Broadband, also referred to as internet service, has quickly become a necessary ingredient for economic growth and community sustainability. Whether the talk is about fiber or cable or DSL, or about speed or dependability, internet connections between students and schools, patients with medical care services, scientists transporting data around the world, or for municipal or county-wide services, there is a lot to learn about what’s available, what the local needs will be in the future, and how the private and public sectors can work together.

Peggy Schaffer, the Executive Director of the ConnectME Authority, will bring news about State programs and experiences from around Maine. There will be a panel of local business and education leaders discussing the role of reliable high-speed internet access in growing industries including aquaculture and health care. Stephen Baybutt, Clinical Director of Population Health and Telehealth for MaineHealth Care at Home serving patients from York County to Waldo County, will talk about current telehealth services and plans for the future. In addition, Scott Wilkinson and Mark Winter, Senators King and Collins regional staff, will share highlights of federal initiatives.
