Midcoast Solar Energy Forum in Waldoboro
Dan Burgess, the newly appointed Director of the Governor's Energy Office, will share some thoughts on the energy issues facing Maine. Representative Seth Berry, Co-Chairman of the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Technology, will discuss potential legislative solutions for the high cost and lack of reliability of Maine's electrical power distribution systems. And Steve Weems, the Executive Director of the Solar Energy Association of Maine, and Jay Kilbourn, Trustee and former President of Kennebunk Light & Power District (KL&PD), will discuss the future of solar energy in Maine, with special emphasis on the potential growth of community-based solar investment, commercial and institutional projects, and shared resources (group) projects.
Long time solar advocate Senator Dana Dow will make opening remarks; Senator Dave Miramant and Representatives Jeff Evangelos, and Chloe Maxmin will be in attendance.
The public is cordially invited to learn about the advances being made in solar technology, the long-term costs and benefits of solar power to both private and public sectors, and the critical need to develop a coherent solar policy for the State of Maine.
