TechHire Training for IT Sector

TechHire Maine: Connecting Maine’s Workforce to Careers in IT and Computing

TechHire is a multi-year job training initiative to build Maine’s information technology (IT) workforce. Funded through June 2020, the initiative aims to recruit, assess, train, and place individuals in well-paying, middle- and high-skilled occupations in IT and computing. TechHire staff work with both young adults (ages 17-29) seeking training and careers, and with businesses with IT needs.

There are quite a variety of IT occupations across many business sectors, such as computer user support specialist, web developer, GIS technician, computer programmer, web administrator, data warehousing, information security analysts, network and computer systems administrators, and more. More information about careers in IT is available here: http://www.projectlogin.com/careers.

For young adults interested in training and employment in the IT field, contact Dylan Barrett, Coastal Counties Program Navigator, 775-5891/ext. 6822; email: [email protected], or Kyle Olson, Program Coordinator, 956-2959; email: [email protected].

For businesses looking to find skilled employees or resources to train current employees, contact Katherine Johnston, [email protected]. There are no costs to get involved, and employers can choose a variety of ways to work with TechHire.

Here’s TechHire’s brochure.

This 4 million dollar project is fully funded by a U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration grant awarded to and managed by Coastal Counties Workforce, Inc., the Local Workforce Development Board for Maine’s six coastal counties. This program is an equal opportunity employer program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
