Land and Water Conservation Fund Deadline

Application materials for the 2019 LWCF Grant round are now posted to the Maine BPL Land and Water Conservation Fund website.

The Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1964 (LWCF) was established to assist federal, state and local governments in the acquisition and/or development of public outdoor recreation facilities. Administered at the federal level by the National Park Service and at the state level by the Bureau of Parks and Lands in the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, LWCF grants can provide up to 50% of the allowable costs for approved acquisition or development projects for public outdoor recreation.

Maine has over 880 fund assisted sites found from Kittery to Madawaska and Lubec to Rangeley and myriad sites in between.  Two thirds of all Maine's projects have gone to local project sponsors, benefiting towns and cities across the state.  The one third to State sites has funded the acquisition and or development of most of the more popular and scenic state parks and recreation areas.  Chances are good that one of your local parks or favorite State parks has benefited from this amazing program.

Potential applicants must request a pre-application site inspection prior to July 27, 2018.

Applications must be submitted on or before close of business (5:00 PM) on Friday, November 16, 2018
